OLD BUSINESS
Newspaper: Paula Carter was not present so no report was available. Tabled until the November meeting.

Health Fair: After some discussion it was decided that a Health Fair be held on Saturday, April 19, 8a-1p in the Community Room. Several places will be contacted so that we will have different types of screenings done. David stated that he could do several short self-defense lessons. Bicycle and car seat safety were mentioned. Marlene will look into that. More on this later.

Entrepreneurship Workshop: This will be held Saturday, November 10, 9-12, in the City Council Room. Cost is $20 now and $25 after November 5. Refreshments will be served. Flyers will be sent next week to people with business licenses in Battlefield. A postcard will be sent 1 ½ weeks prior to the event as a reminder. City Hall will get the list to Brenna. John Reep has stated that he could do a workshop on taxes. Final arrangements will be discussed at the November meeting.

Halloween: The city will be holding a Halloween Party on November 26, 6-8p in the Community Room and other parts of the city building. Marlene moved, seconded by Brenna, to donate $200 to help with decorations etc. All in favor.

Christmas: Santa in the City will be held on December 15, 9-11. This year a pancake breakfast will be held by the Men’s Ministry of First Baptist Church. They will do the cooking and provide the food but help is needed to purchase condiments, paper products, syrup etc. Film will also be needed this year. Marlene moved, seconded by Katharine, that we donate $100 to this event. All in favor.

NEW BUSINESS

Dues: Bills will be sent out this month for 2008. It was decided that a letter from the president recapping 2007 should be included.
Welcome packets: Brenna requests that 400 items be collected by January 2008. This way the items will be ready for the packets each time we find out that the packets are gone. There have been times this year when several months have gone by without any packets at city hall. Place your orders now for extra business cards, pens, pencils, notepads, coupons etc. To be included in the 2008 Welcome Packets.
New officers/board members: Ballots need to be out in November for a December election of any new board members. The by-laws will be checked to see if we have a term limit for officers. More at the November meeting.

MISC:
Wendy Hopkins, Tulip Tree Travel, introduced herself to those present. Wendy will be on the January agenda giving a presentation on her business.
Vicki Hutcheson has rental properties in the city and was at the meeting to see what we are all about. (Vicki joined the Chamber after the meeting)

Sincerely Submitted,
