(Minutes not final or approved by Board) Gene Blakey turned meeting over to new President, Randy Fry In Attendance: Gene Blakey, Paula Carter, Randy Fry, Judy Stainback, David Vallely, Katharine Wurm, Rick Hess and Brenna Davis. Minutes: Gene moved, seconded by Katharine, to accept as sent out, after correcting Paula’s name to Carter not Culver. All in favor. Treasurer Report: Ending balance is $4,414.28. Randy moved to accept as passed out, seconded by Katharine. All in favor. Old Business: YARD SIGNS– Randy has ordered 50 18x24 signs and 20 legs. They should be ready in a week or so. The cost is around $200. WELCOME PACKET– Brenna is still waiting to receive items for the Welcome packet. Please get these items to Marlene’s office or contact Brenna by the end of January. BUDGET– Brenna moved, seconded by Delores, to accept the budget as sent out. All in favor. We need to make a point of itemizing the office supplies and stamps. STATIONERY– Brenna passed around the new stationery. New Business: VOTE– Brenna moved, seconded by Gene, to accept Paula Carter as a 3 year board member and president-elect. All in favor. REVIEW– Gene discussed several projects from 2007: the Missouri Extension seminar went well and more should be scheduled; 4th of July participation could be extended; the newspaper might have been a bad idea but we could continue with an article in FYI . NEW PRESIDENT– Gene handed the gavel over to Randy after passing out plaques to the present board members. Randy stated that he wants to contact new members and non-members to see what they want from/for the Chamber. He would like to see more networking: lunch business card swaps etc. Paula is a member of the Nixa and Republic chambers and she and Randy would like to attend a meeting to see what they do. Paula would like to see us have a longer than 1 year goal. A planning session. VISITOR– Rick Hess, new city administrator was introduced to the meeting. All in attendance told a little about themselves and welcomed Rick to Battlefield. FEBRUARY AGENDA– Sandy Byrd has sent a note on tax exempt– this needs to be discussed at the next meeting. We also need to check the by-laws regarding board and officer term lengths. BANK FYI– Brenna moved, seconded by Katharine, to have Gene’s name removed for the bank signature card and credit card and to have Randy Fry added. All in favor. WEBSITE WORKSHOP– David Vallely will be holding a website workshop on Tuesday, Jan. 29, 1-5pm and Friday, Feb. 1, 8-12noon. This workshop is for Chamber members to work on the information included on our website about their business. Please bring any pictures you might want to add to the website. These workshops will be held in the city hall chambers. No appointment necessary. This will help our website be more complete. Your participation will be greatly appreciated.
